NPS, TY!

A while back I was contacted by an employee of the National Park Service. She requested a photo of me to go along with an article written about me by a UC Davis student. Flabbergasted, I wondered how this came about. She explained that it was a project curated by the NPS and UCD that would serve to highlight women making an impact through the use of National Parks.

Well. Just wow.

And here my friends is the article. Please know that this is fantastic because my goal is to show people that you can go outside, wherever you are and enjoy the health benefits of letting nature in and all the stress out.

I started documenting my own hikes and backpacking trips because of my love of writing. BUT when my grandson was born I fell in love with being with him outside. He is ready to go now and we are entering our next chapter of exploration and wanderlust.

COVID prevention strategies have all but kicked my butt. But it’s time to get back to it; mask and all.

Meanwhile, take a look. I’m so excited for this kindness. Please share and most importantly, go outside and play!

Here is the link to the article.

About Caro

I am a social worker by training and a peace officer by profession having worked with California’s delinquent youth and young adults for 28 years. I firmly believe that our development as humans depends on our environment and that sometimes we get stuck. As such, I write about those things we sometimes ignore or fail to see until we are forced to pay attention.

BTW, I am going to do the 6 mile hike with the Sac Camino group this Sunday to see how my knee does. I think I am ready for Yosemite when you are.
